Fairytale magic meets glorious music – fall under the spell of Zemira & Azor this summer! Grétry’s sparkling yet serious comedy, based on the much-loved story of Beauty and the Beast, won over countless hearts through the final decades of the 18th century, including that of Mozart. Now rarely performed, Bampton presents a unusual edition from Mannheim with added music by Niccolò Jommelli. Performances will be in a new lively English translation, semi-staged and costumed, with orchestra at the Orangery at Westonbirt GL8 8QG

Devereux’s Regiment will be celebrating the 380th anniversary of the end of the first civil war in 1646 and the handing back of the town from the Governor, Colonel Nicholas Devereux, to the mayor and townsfolk at the market cross on Saturday 5th September.
From 1pm come and meet the soldiers and civilians who will be on hand to discuss their roles in this important period of history. At 3pm the regiment will form a guard of honour and formally hand back the keys of the town to the mayor.
